Obituary for Robert E. Maes
ROBERT E. MAES, 79, of Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at C.G.H. Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Bob was born June 12, 1931, in Jesup, IA, to Rene & Madeline (DeBlaire) Maes. He was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War, from 1952 " 1954. He married Shirley L. Church on April 15, 1959 in Prophetstown. For over 50 years Bob was a union laborer for Local 727 out of Dixon, IL. He also worked for Morris Dever Construction and helped many area farmers throughout the years. Bob enjoyed mowing yards and cleaning cars for people. Survivors include his wife Shirley; two daughters, Connie (Martin) Stern of Lyndon, IL, Cindy Maes of Prophetstown, IL; two grandchildren, Nicholas (Erin) Stern and Jenny (Ryan Mose) Stern; several nieces,nephews, great nieces and great nephews; two special friends, Julie Wilson and Don Fisk, both of Sterling, IL. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Boelens and Mary Pyse; three brothers, Camiel "Mike" Maes, Art Maes, and Hank Maes.
