Obituary for Robert E. Kelly
ROBERT E. KELLY, 82, of 307 S. Grape Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL. Bob was born March 24, 1928 in Cleveland, OH and adopted in 1930 by Joseph and Alfhild (Sparf) Kelly. He was educated in the Rockford, IL grade schools and was a 1946 graduate of Rockford High School. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1946 to 1949 and was recalled into active duty from 1951 to 1952. He married Leora J. Buzzell on November 26, 1949 in Rockford. Bob was first employed by Central Illinois Electric & Gas Company in Rockford from 1952 to 1968. He was then transferred to the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station in Cordova, IL, where he worked for Commonwealth Edison for 35 years, retiring in 1987 as a shift engineer. Bob was a member of the Morrison Lions Club since 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, reading, and being a wonderful caregiver for his four schnauzer dogs, especially Molly B. Survivors include his wife, Leora; two daughters, Pamela (George) Behnke of Eagan, MN and Barbara (Pete) DeGraf of Davenport, IA; three grandchildren, Laura Behnke of San Francisco, CA; Luke Behnke of Boston, MA; and Jacqueline Williams serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Dan DeGraf; and an aunt, Thelma Stouffer.
