Obituary for Robert A. Merema
ROBERT A. MEREMA, 94, of Windsor Manor in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Windsor Manor.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Ken Renkes is officiating. Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Windsor Manor.
Bob was born August 13, 1924, in rural Whiteside County to Clarence and Anna (Temple) Merema. He was educated in the Lockhart School in rural Whiteside County. On February 11, 1944 he married Theresa L. Schaver in Fulton. She died December 30, 2011. Bob spent his life farming in the rural Fulton area until retirement in 1985. He was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church where he served as a deacon. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife and they had visited all 50 states. He also enjoyed his annual fishing trip to Oak Lawn Resort in Minnesota, where he celebrated his birthday every year with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Dierks of Preston, IA and Roberta (Dan) Burdsall of Branson, MO; two sons, Kenneth (Denise) Merema of Fulton, IL and Stanley (Lois) Merema of Hollister, MO; thirteen grandchildren; Tammy (Gary) Bormann, Stacy (Tom) Bohle, Tracey (Mike) Regenwether, Angie (Tom Heath) Dierks, Greg (Julie) Dierks, Mike (Denise) Hester, Mark (Kelly) Hester, Melanie (Lon) Ehler, Terry (Jessica Davis-Steele) Merema, Valerie Murphy, Patrick Houts, Jr., Danielle (Shad) Lindsey, Michael Burdsall; twenty-three great grandchildren, Jackson and Grayson Dierks, Marissa and Keaton Bormann, Zachary Bohle, Lane Regenwether, Tim, Ben, Alison and Nathan Hester, Emma and Abby Hester, Lukas, Gavin and Wyatt Ehler, Joseph, Tiernan and Brianna Merema, Noah Dean, Ella Murphy, Ashton Kasperski, Taylor and Skylar Lindsey; one great great grandson, Nolan Hester.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one great granddaughter, Hope Kay Dierks, two brothers, Edwin Merema, and Donald Merema in infancy, one son-in-law, Lester Dierks.
