Obituary for Rita Stone
RITA STONE, 70, of Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, August 15, 2016, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown. Rita was born January 20, 1946, in Ottawa, IL, to Wesley and Minnie D. (Boetto) Quinn. She was educated in the Marseilles Grade Schools and was a graduate of Marseilles High School in Marseilles, IL. She received her bachelor"s and master"s degrees in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Rita married John A. "Jack" Stone on December 23, 1978, in Rockton, IL. She was employed as a teacher in the Prophetstown Elementary School for 37 years, retiring in 2005. Rita was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown and a member of the (IEA) Illinois Education Association. She also served as a Boy Scout leader for Troop #94. She enjoyed camping, hiking, photography, and gardening. She was an avid cat lover. Survivors include her husband, Jack; one son, Robert (Kiah) Stone of Cambridge, IL and one grandson, Connor Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents.
