Obituary for Rick Temple
RICK TEMPLE, 64, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at MercyOne Clinton in Clinton, IA.
A private family funeral service will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton with Rev. Kevin Ver Hoeven officiating. The funeral will be live streamed on Bethel Christian Reformed Church’s Facebook Page (Facebook - Thrive Ministries: Thrive for Christ (1208 3rd Ave Fulton) and will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, January 29, 2021. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Masks and Social Distancing will be enforced. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established to Unity Christian Schools, Bethel Christian Reformed Church, and World Relief.
Rick was born May 15, 1956, in Clinton, IA, to Ronald L. and Vangie L. (Kophamer) Temple. He was educated in the Unity Christian Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. He attended Dordt University in Sioux Center, IA, and was a graduate of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI. Rick married Mary L. Kay on August 14, 1976, in Fulton. He was a teacher at Unity Christian Schools in Fulton and Erie Middle School in Erie, IL. Rick coached basketball throughout his teaching career. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and small group leader. Rick loved being a member of the Praise and Worship Team at the church. He was a member of the Fulton Country Club and was an avid Fighting Illini fan. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. Rick was a volunteer teacher at World Relief.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Lynn (Dr. Paul) Veldhouse of Brookfield, WI, and Erin (Mawi) Asgedom of Elmhurst, IL; one son, Ryan Temple of Caledonia, MI; twelve grandchildren, Titus, Reuben, Abram, Niya, and Naomi Veldhouse; Sawyer, Brynn, Simon, and Griffin Asgedom; Isabelle, Olivia, and Lucas Temple; three brothers, Randy (Lois) Temple of Litchfield Park, AZ; Terry (Denise) Temple of Fulton, IL; and Marty (Danette) Temple of Oswego, IL; his step mother, Lorraine A. Temple of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
