Obituary for Rick L. Venhuizen
RICK L. VENHUIZEN, 68, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, September 10, 2022 with his family by his side, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
A private family service will be held at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Triple P BBQ, 3312 West Rock Falls Road, Rock Falls, IL. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established.
Rick was born August 7, 1954, in Morrison, IL, to Theodore and Marjorie (Buikema) Venhuizen. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1972 graduate of Morrison High School. He married Sherry A. Cady on November 21, 1975, in Morrison, IL. Rick owned and operated Rick’s Auto Body in Morrison until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. He was also a member of Muskie Inc. Fishing Club and several snowmobile clubs. He enjoyed fishing, boating, Wednesday night “Safety Meetings” and snowmobiling. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry; one daughter, Monica (Joe) Tolliver of Troy, IL; one son, Jeremy (Amanda) Venhuizen of Lake Carroll, IL; four grandchildren, Cora, Patrick, and Emma Tolliver and Jake Venhuizen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
