His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Mr. Rich Criss, Ministry Coordinator of Emmanuel Church in Morrison. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Richard was born May 25, 1941, in Macomb, IL, to Melvin and Elizabeth (Noble) McCoy. He graduated from Rock Falls High School and later married Janice Wiebenga on October 3, 1963 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL. Together Richard and Janice shared their lives for over 61 years of marriage. He worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire for 36 years as a millwright, and after retiring he worked as a janitor for the Morrison School District and as a charter bus driver for RC Smith. Richard was a member of Emmanuel Church in Morrison. He was an avid lover of cars, demolition derbies, NASCAR, and the Chicago Bears – whether they were good or not. He took great pride in his junior high, neighborhood and daycare "kids", but was especially proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting, dance and musical events and was always in the truck ready to go before anyone else. He was friendly and easy-going, always greeting people with a big grin and striking up a conversation with anyone around him.
