Obituary for Rhea Bechtel
RHEA BECHTEL, 91, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, November 29, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, with Rev. Ralph Beidler, Pastor of Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church in Holland, MI, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL. A memorial has been established to Spring Valley Reformed Church.

Rhea was born July 27, 1930 in Morrison, IL, to Lawrence L. and Dena (Bielema) Green. She was educated in a one room rural school and graduated from Morrison High School with the class of 1948. She married Glenn Bechtel on January 26, 1949 at Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton. He died in October of 2013. Rhea was employed as a bookkeeper for many years working for Fidelity Life Association, Dr. Van Riet, Garden Plain Feed Service, and did farm record keeping from home. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, flower gardening, bird watching, and living in a scenic rural area. She was a life long member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church where in her younger years she taught primary Sunday School and catechism.

Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Nicke of Rock Island, IL, Ellen (Gregg) Pessman of Fulton, and Rev. Dr. Carol (Thomas Mullens) Bechtel of Holland, MI; one son, Scott (Sandi) Bechtel of Fulton; seven grandchildren, Nathan Nicke, Brian (Shawna) Nicke, Dan (Amy) Bechtel, Steve Bechtel, Jennifer (Shawn) Anton, Andrew (Melanie) Reynolds and Ellen (AJ) Tedeschi; two step grandchildren, Elyssa (Wes) Chubb and Ian (Dayna) Mullens; ten great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie (Burton) Wiersema of Brandon, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn; one son, Brad Lee Bechtel in infancy; one sister, Janet C. Kooi; one brother, Dr. Lawrence J. Green.
