Obituary for Rex H. Winget
Rex H. Winget, 79, died on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL at a later date. A memorial has been established to Barbershop Harmony Society – Harmony Youth Project.
Rex was born November 22, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA to James L. and Katherine (Bland) Winget. Rex was a graduate of Rye High School in Rye, NY. He then attended Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO. He married Barbara Childers in New York and later married Marie E. Sharer-Walters on June 4, 1977, in Fulton, IL. Rex was employed for 43 years at J.T. Cullen retiring in December 2013. He was a member of First Reformed Church where he was a member of the choir. Rex was also a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society in Rock Falls, IL for 30 years where he made musical arrangements. He was involved in plays at the Clinton Area Showboat Theater and at the Carriage House in Clinton, IA.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; one daughter, Joy (Daniel) Dougherty of Salem, OR; two sons, John (Pam) Winget of Washington, IA and Ray (Dannie) Winget of Kingman, AZ; two step sons, Terry Walters of TX and David Walters of Billings, MT; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Stephen) Dumas of Apple Valley, MN; two brothers, Robert (Karen) Winget of CA and John (Jean) Winget of New York; one sister in law, Linda Winget of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step son, Mark Douglas Walters; one brother, James D. Winget.
