Obituary for Renzie J. Buikema
RENZIE J. BUIKEMA, 95, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the nursing home. Renzie was born on December 15, 1913 in Morrison, IL to Rank and Minnie (Fossen) Buikema. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. He married Iva Tichler on December 3, 1935 in Morrison, IL. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1977. He later married Anna H. Venema on June 1, 1979 in Fulton, IL. She died on July 21, 1999. Renzie engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area his entire life. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL and the church"s Men"s Brotherhood. He was a member of the Whiteside County farm bureau. Renzie enjoyed wood working and gardening. Survivors include four daughters, Esther (Gerald) Hamstra of Morrison, IL, Janice (Tommy) Patten of Morrison, IL, Shirley (Doug) Borop of Machesney Park, IL, and Beth (Steve)Wroble of Morrison, IL; one son, Allen (Hope) Buikema of Morrison, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Janet Tichler of Morrison, IL and Mrs. Ella Mae Pruis of Morrison, IL; two step-daughters, Mary Jean (Leroy) Wiersema of Morrison, IL and Mildred "Pinky" (Vernon) Van Dyke of Rock Falls, IL; two step-sons, Donald (Corliss) Venema of Morrison, IL, and Calvin (Paula) Venema of Geneseo, IL; nineteen step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives; one granddaughter in infancy; one step son, Robert Venema; three sisters, Betty Hey, Stella Buikema and Dorothy June Richmond; and one brother, John Buikema.
