Obituary for Raymond E. Nance
RAYMOND E. NANCE, 83, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison, IL. Raymond was born October 23, 1931, in Makanda, IL, to Moody and Geneva (Hagler) Nance. He was educated in the Carbondale and Makanda, IL schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. On February 9, 1952, he married Charlene Anne Andress in Piggott, AR. Raymond was a crane mechanic at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL for 32 years. He was an avid golfer and a St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; two daughters, Sharlene (Van) Johnson of Prophetstown, IL and Victoria Poulos of Lyndon, IL; four sons, Randal Nance, Steven Nance of Dubuque, IA, Thomas Nance of Island Lake, IL and Mark Nance of Prophetstown.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Mayer of Makanda, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Klump; one brother, Clyde Nance.
