Obituary for Phyllis R. Reedy
PHYLLIS R. REEDY, 92, of Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton, IA, formerly of Albany, IL, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the nursing home. Phyllis was born November 24, 1914, in Newton Township, to George L. and Hattie (Tucker) Slaymaker. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools and graduated from Erie Community High School. She married Archie F. Reedy on October 3, 1936 in Ladd, IL. He died January 26, 1993. Phyllis had worked as a waitress and cook at the restaurants in Albany. She was a member of the former Presbyterian Church in Newton Township. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Friendly Circle and the Joy Circle. Phyllis had served as a delegate to the UMC Northwest Conference in DeKalb, IL, and was named as an honorary deacon for the United Methodist Church for her many years of service. Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Mrs. Richard) Brandenburg of Albany, IL and Mary (Mrs. Greg) Betts of Clinton, IA; one son, Donald Reedy of Albany, IL; nine grandchildren, Teresa Orr, Michael (Jennifer) Betts, Brad (Renae) Betts, Douglas (Cindy) Brandenburg, Kimberly (Paul) Rovane, Jeanne (Randy) Moreland, Lynne (Keith) Sondgeroth, Joellen (Steve) Roos, Karen (David) Rice; twenty-one great grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Slaymaker of Erie, IL; her AFS family, Dirk and Patricia DeBruyn of Belgium.She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie.
