Obituary for Phyllis Boonstra
PHYLLIS M. BOONSTRA, 78, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Phyllis was born December 21, 1932 in Savanna, IL, to Charles E. and Christine M. (Bielema) Miller. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools and was a 1950 graduate of Fulton High School. She married Elmer F. Boonstra on January 31, 1952 in Fulton. He died July 31, 1996. Phyllis was employed as a secretary at the former Patent Novelty Company and the Fulton Elevator both in Fulton, IL. Most important to her was being a homemaker. Phyllis was a member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church in rural Fulton where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the church"s Missionary Guild. She volunteered at the Fulton Food Pantry and the Fulton Elementary School. Phyllis enjoyed gardening and attending the sporting and school activities of her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Bob) Snyder and Barbara (Warren) Fulfs both of Fulton, IL; three sons, Kevin (Julie) Boonstra, Kendall (Donna) Boonstra, and Kurt Boonstra all of Fulton, IL; twelve grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) Snyder, Nathan (Jess) Snyder, Joseph Snyder, Steve Boonstra, Terry (Amanda) Boonstra, Kristen Boonstra, Kara Boonstra, Amanda Boonstra, Eric Boonstra, Tim Fulfs, Christine Fulfs, and Mike Fulfs; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (LaVern) Boelkens of Elgin, IL; two brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) Miller of Albany, IL and Charles (Patricia) Miller, Jr. of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elmer.
