Obituary for Perry Winfield Scott
PERRY W. SCOTT, 81, of Lyndon, IL, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, IL. Perry was born May 27, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Joseph E. and Florence (Meredith) Scott. He attended Parker High School in Chicago. On April 28, 1951, Perry married Gloria Louise Hill in Chicago. She died February 24, 2008. Perry first worked at the Continental Can Company, then for the Tootsie Roll Industries, both in Chicago. He then worked at the General Motors Electromotive Division in Hinsdale, IL. He also owned and operated Frankfort Bowling Lanes in Frankfort, IL. Perry was an active member of the Lawn Masonic Lodge #815 in Oak Lawn, IL; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Chicago, and the Medinah Shrine of Addison, IL. He was also a member of the Lyndon Historical Society. Perry enjoyed reading, woodworking and genealogy. Survivors include four daughters, Belinda (Paul) Gross of St. Charles, IL, Beverly (John) Scott-Syfert of Kasilor, AK, Rev. Julie Bunt of Freeport, IL, and Jean (Leslie) Scott-Schroeder of Norman, OK; two sons, John Scott of St. James City, FL; George (Shawna) Scott of Vancouver, WA; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Vonch of California; one half sister, Vivian (Mick) Jensen of Concord, CA, one half brother, Tim (Felicia) Scott of Kirksville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria, and one sister.
FUNERAL SERVICE WHEN & WHERE: Following Perry"s wishes, his body has been donated to the Deeded Body Program of the University of Iowa in Iowa City. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
