Obituary for Pearl W. Sissing
PEARL W. SISSING, 98, of Rest Haven Care Center, Holland, MI, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Care Center. Pearl was born September 15, 1911 in Newton Township, IL, to Paul D. and Jessie (Jaarsma) Klimstra. She was educated in the Byers School of rural Whiteside County. Pearl married Clarence Sissing on February 22, 1933 in Newton Township, IL. He died April 2, 1976. Pearl farmed along with her husband in the rural Fulton area. She moved to Fulton in 1993 and then to Bickford Cottage in Clinton, IA in 2000, Prairie Hills at Clinton in 2006 and resided there until December 2009 when she moved to Holland, MI. Pearl was a member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton, the church"s choir, and the King"s Daughters Society. She was also a member of the Whiteside County Home Extension. Pearl enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, bus trips and participating in domestic missions. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (William) Church of Holland, MI; one son, Gordon (Jane) Sissing of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren, Michael (Christine) Sissing, Marc (Laurel) Sissing, Michelle (Jason) Koglin, Elliott (Kelly) Church, Javed Church, and Jeremy (Kellie) Church; thirteen great grandchildren, Jessica, Tarah, Jason, and Mariah Sissing; Tyler (Lori) Sissing; Thaddeus & Shelby Sissing; Sebastian Koglin; Brennan, Kathleen, and Nathanial Church; Fiona and Hailey Church; and one sister, Marguerite Van Osdol of Galena, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; one sister, Tena Klimstra; four brothers, Louis, Rensie, Willard, and Paul Klimstra.
