Obituary for Pauline G. Wilkens
PAULINE G. WILKENS, 84, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the nursing home. Pauline was born December 30, 1926, to Peter and Dora (Dykstra) Vos in Morrison, IL. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1944 graduate of Morrison High School. She married Arthur Wilkens on October 6, 1956 in Nashua, IA. He died January 28, 1985. Pauline owned and operated, along with her late husband, Art, the Wilkens Royal Blue Grocery Store in Morrison until 1981. She was a member of the Morrison Christian Reformed Church and the church"s Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed bowling. Pauline was known for her outgoing personality and was considered a friend to many. She was known to her grandchildren and the children she came into contact with as the "candy/dollar" lady. Survivors include two sons, Tom (Karrie) Wilkens of Matthews, NC and Terry (Shelley) Wilkens of Morrison, IL; one step son, Bill (Christine) Wilkens of Port Charlotte, FL; one step daughter-in-law, Ruth Wilkens of Brookfield, WI; eleven grandchildren, Katie, Rachel, Emily, Abigail, and Benjamin Wilkens, Quinn (Adam) Temple, Leslie, Taryn, Ernisha, Franklin, and Matthew Wilkens; nine step grandchildren, Cindy (Richard) Greenup, Roger (Cathy) Wilkens, Craig (Jennifer) Wilkens, Cheryl (Martin) Schrader, Janelle (Jim) Wohrley, Kim Wilkens, Lisa (Drew) Groharing, Steve (Deana) Ottens, Jacquelene (Craig) Winkler; sixteen step great grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Dykema of Morrison, IL and Evelyn Griffith of Ocala, FL; one brother, DuWayne Vos of Mt. Carroll, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; one step daughter, Bettie Rabbe; one step son, Bob Wilkens; one grandson, Jeffrey Wilkens; one half sister, Faye Vandermyde.
