Obituary for Paul Parker

PAUL PARKER, 75, of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.


His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Fulton Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Camp officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established.


Paul was born January 26, 1948, in Morrison, IL, to James F. and Evelyn “Jean” (Hurley) Parker. He was educated in the Garden Plain Grade School and was a 1966 graduate of Fulton High School. He served in the US Navy from 1967 to 1970. Paul married Donna S. Weidman on February 21, 1976, in Morrison, IL. He was employed by 3M in Cordova for 34 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and on various committees. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fulton Country Club. He coached Little League and Legion baseball for many years and was head coach of Fulton Baseball for a couple of years. Paul also served as president of the Fulton Recreational League for several terms and was on the nominating committee for the Northwest Illinois Sports Hall of Fame and the Fulton Athletic Hall of Fame. Paul was an avid sports fan and when he wasn’t coaching, he was watching sports on TV.


Survivors include his wife, Donna; one daughter, Kimberly (Michael Goodbred) Parker of Hampton, IL; two sons, Chad Parker of Garden Plain, IL and Kurt (Jaime Jurgersen) Parker of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, Lydya and Zane Parker, Tate and Ty Jurgersen; two brothers, Robert (Mary Jo) Parker of Fredericksburg, VA and Kevin (Cindy) Parker of Henderson, NV.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence Parker.
