Obituary for Paul E. Hartman
PAUL E. HARTMAN, 82, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, October 11, 2013, at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL. Paul was born May 15, 1931, in Thomson, IL, to George H. and Helen (Tripp) Hartman. He was educated in the Ideal Grade School and was a 1949 graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He married Betty J. Haan on August 22, 1954, in Milledgeville, IL. She died in January 1975. He later married Myrna J. (Allen) Griffith on April 16, 1988, in Nashua, IA. Paul engaged in farming in the rural Thomson area his entire life. He was a former member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick, IL and served on the church council. He was a current member of the Morrison United Methodist Church and the Carroll County Farm Bureau. He also served as a member of the Thomson School Board. He was an avid reader of the American Wild West books and enjoyed "windshield farming". Survivors include his wife, Myrna; two sons, Tom (Betty) Hartman of Thomson, IL and Robert (Barb) Hartman of Thomson, IL; two step daughters, Shari (Steve) Shannon of Geneseo, IL and Gale Griffith of Rock Island, IL; four grandchildren, Kristina (Michael) Hartman, Nicole (Bryan) Faur, Travis Hartman, and Jessica (Fiance Evan Hollewell) Hartman; three step grandchildren, Carly Shannon, Whitney Shannon, and Chase (Jessica) Shannon; two great-grandchildren, Addyson Hartman and Kilee Faur; one step great-grandchild, Cade Heilman; two sisters, Ruth (Robert) Mortland of Andalusia, IL and Violet Swanger of Milledgeville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; two brothers, Melvin and Marvin Hartman.
