Obituary for Orrin Taylor
ORRIN TAYLOR, 85, of Albany, IL, died Friday August 10, 2018 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Albany United Methodist Church, preceded by a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Toni Lucas will officiate. Interment will be in Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany. A memorial has been established.
Orrin was born March 2, 1933 in Brookville, IL to Arthur Mack and Rosie (Paul) Taylor. He was educated in the Polo, IL schools. He first married Ruth Whaley, who died in 2007. He later married Edna R. (Humphrey) VanDerVoort on December 11, 2010 in Albany. Warren had a career in the U.S. Army, retiring after 29 years. He was employed by various cities as a police officer, and had served as Police Chief in both Fulton and Albany, IL. He also served as Deputy Sheriff in various counties. He was a member of the VFW Post 1433 and America Veterans Chapter 20 in Glendale, AZ. He was a current member of the Hanson-Kennedy American Legion Post 1079 in Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Edna and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; three sisters, Lela Klaus, Anna Jacobi and Ruby Boom; four brothers, Orville, Everett, Donald and Harold Taylor.
