Obituary for Norma Ruiz Brimley
Norma Ruiz Brimley, age 64, of Alamo, TX (formerly of Fulton, IL) passed away on April 16, 2022, at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, San Antonio, TX, surrounded by her family.
Norma was born on November 1, 1957, to Richard and Rosa Ruiz in El Paso, TX. She married her best friend and love, Jeff Brimley, on May 16th, 1987.
One of Norma's hobbies was floral design. She worked as a floral designer for several years and taught floral design at Blackhawk College in East Moline, IL. After moving to Texas, Norma wanted to continue to teach, and she taught English to immigrants for several years in Texas. Norma and Jeff also owned an ice cream truck called "Scoops".
Later in her career, Norma went back to college and received a degree as a medical assistant. She worked for several doctor's offices and ended her career as a Medical Claims Examiner for Molina Healthcare.
Norma is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jeff; brothers, Ricardo (Odilia) Ruiz, Martinez, GA, Henry Ruiz, Clinton, IA; sisters Marge (Ron) Hook, Fulton, IL, Rosie (Kerry) Wilkerson, Mesa, AZ, and Yolanda (Dan) Schlitter, Dubuque, IA; sisters-in-law; Teresa (Ken) Werner, Geneseo, IL, Pam (Ed) Lester, Noblesville, IN. She had several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws (Vincent and Nancy Brimley) and her brothers: Anthony, Raul, and Tony Ruiz.
Norma will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and her cats, Oliver, and Tiny.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton, IL. Visitation is from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with mass immediately following. Burial will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery with a luncheon at the church hall.
