Obituary for Michael Owen Lowery
MICHAEL OWEN LOWERY, 79, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, March 21, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Mike Worrell of Grace Point Church in Dixon, IL. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established.
Mike was born August 7, 1944 in Princeton, IL to Francis Owen and Dorothy C. (Whitver) Lowery. He was educated in the Walnut Grade School and was a graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, IL. On June 1, 1982 he married Lila Jean Smith in Dixon. Mike was employed by the former Dixon Developmental Center and most recently by the IL Department of Transportation in the records department. He retired in 2002. Mike was an avid gardener, and especially enjoyed growing Impatiens. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Joshua) Zigler of Morrison and Danielle Lowery of Sterling, IL; one son, Eric (Katie ) Lowery of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren, Augest Zigler, Haley (Brandon Dewey) Zigler, Brandon (Brooke Clayton) Zigler, Thomas Zigler, Natalie Zigler, Wyatt Zigler and one more on the way; four great grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Barbara Warling of LaCrosse, WI; one brother, Donald (Judy) Lowery of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
