Obituary for Michael F. Sweely
MICHAEL F. SWEELY, 57, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA. Mike was born December 10, 1952, in Freeport, IL, to William Francis and Lois (Gorham) Sweely. He was educated in the Pearl City and Nora, IL, grade schools and graduated from Warren High School in Warren, IL. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mike worked at Drives, Inc. in Fulton, IL and also for the Union Pacific Railroad in Clinton, IA. Mike was an over-the-road trucker. He was a member of the National Humane Society, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mike also enjoyed coin collecting. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Randy) Kristek of Monett, MO and Rhonda (Clinton) Danforth of Aurora, MO; one son, Michael Sweely; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Kenworthy of Fulton, IL and Heidi (Fran) Passe of Durand, WI; four nieces, one nephew; several great nieces and great nephews; one great great niece; his loving dog, Rascal. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Lena Gorham; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Louise Sweely.
