Obituary for Mary Myrle Nice
MARY MYRLE NICE, 91, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at her home. Mary Myrle was born May 8, 1922, in Ustick Township, IL, to George D. and Ivy L. (Beswick) Howe. She was educated in the West Clyde Grade School of rural Morrison, IL and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Warren M. Nice on June 9, 1940, in Burlington, IA. Mary Myrle farmed alongside her husband in Union Grove, rural Morrison area. She was the Ustick Township assessor, worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, where she was very active in all the Women Circles. Mary Myrle was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed painting ceramics and being outdoors, especially doing flower gardening. Survivors include her husband, Warren; four daughters, Nancy K. Stone of Morrison, IL; Mrs. Beth L. Thornburg of Clifton, CO; Marilyn J. (Brian) Dolieslager of Lyndon, IL; and Melissa L. (Eric) Arey of Tiffin, IA; one son, Merle E. (Nancy) Nice of Sterling, IL; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Sue Pape of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by one sister, Emily Sikkema.
