Obituary for Mary Jane Lewis
MARY JANE LEWIS, 71, of 1103 N. Lime Street, Albany, IL, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Bluff Terrace Care Facility, Clinton, IA.Mary Jane was born January 30, 1936 in Clinton, IA, to Harold J. and Catherine E. (Byers) Ryder. She was educated in the Albany grade schools and was a 1954 graduate of Fulton High School. She was a 1957 graduate of Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing. Mary Jane married Evan D. Lewis on October 19, 1958 in Albany. Following her graduation, she was employed as a registered nurse by Moline Public Hospital until 1962. Later, she was employed as Director of Nursing for Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL for 5 years. In 1974, she was employed by Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA, until retiring in 1992. Mary Jane was a member of Albany United Methodist Church, a communion server for 45 years, and funeral luncheon chairperson for many years. She was a member and officer of the United Methodist Women. She had served as a Cub, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader. Mary Jane was a member of the Albany Women"s Club and had served as an Albany Library volunteer. She was also a member of the Fulton Ladies Golf Association. Survivors include her husband, Evan; one daughter, Cathy (Mrs. David) Bell of Marion, OH; one son, Marty (Patti) Lewis of Albany, IL; one granddaughter, Annie Bell; one step granddaughter, Jennifer Yarbrough; and one nephew, Tom (Joyce) Tegeler of Albany, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents.
