Obituary for Mary A. Swanson
MARY A. SWANSON, 91, of Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center, Rock Falls, IL formerly of Morrison, IL, died Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born August 10, 1915 in La Moille, IL, to George and Susan (Kummer) Ernst. She was educated in the rural Carroll County grade schools. She married George R. Swanson on February 23, 1940 in Clinton, IA. He died July 28, 1999. Mary was employed by General Electric in Morrison for 17 years & 7 months, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. She enjoyed quilt making, gardening, and the company of children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Robert) Tiesman of Lyndon, IL and Patricia (Mrs. James) Fax of Onalaska, TX; five grandchildren, Robert Houzenga, Jr., Barry (Jane) Houzenga, Angela (Mrs. Joe) Driscoll, Melissa (Mrs. David) Kendrick, and Teressa Fax; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; six sisters, Sue Gordon, Kate Fredricks, Loretta Purdue, Christina Smith, Lillian Haupman and Pat Christian; six brothers, George, Michael, Stephen, Frank, William, and August Ernst.
