Obituary for Martha Cruz
MARTHA CRUZ, 60, of Thomson, IL, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. There will be no memorial service. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established to the Fulton High School Bass Fishing Team.
Martha was born March 5, 1963, in Sterling, IL, to Paul and Carmen Louise (Lopez) Cruz. She was educated at Fulton High School. Martha was most currently employed at Dollar General in Fulton, IL, where she enjoyed visiting with all of her customers. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. She loved watching sports and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Martha loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include two daughters, Nicole (Mitch) VanZuiden and Marie (Andrew) Meyers both of Fulton, IL; two sons, AJ (Amanda) Champion of Fulton, IL and James Champion of Davenport, IA; nine grandchildren, Owen and Paisley VanZuiden, Landon, Braedon, Talon and Grayson Meyers and Hadley, Ainsley and Hazel Champion; siblings, Rosemary, Theresa, Carmen, Raymond, John, Gracie and Paula; life partner, Bobby Bossier of Thomson, IL; beloved dog, Dora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Pauly.
