Obituary for Marlyn Faber
MARLYN FABER, 86, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Prairie Hills in Clinton, IA.
A private family service will be held with Rev. Chuck Huckaby officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. Memorials have been established to F.A.C.E. (Fulton Association for Community Enrichment) and Schmaling Public Library.
Marlyn was born November 3, 1934, in Clinton, IA, to John J. and Josephine (Damhoff) Faber. He was educated in Thomson grade schools and was a graduate of Thomson High School. He served in the Army National Guard. Marlyn married Mary Jane Zuidema on June 5, 1957, in Fulton. He was employed as an Executive Vice President at Fulton State Bank for 37 years. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. He served on the Central Bank Board of Directors, Fulton Kiwanis Club and the Schmaling Public Library Board. He helped with delivering Meals on Wheels, Revolving Loan Committee and the Regional School Board. Marlyn was a trustee of the Foundation of D.S. Flikkema. He was a charter member of the Fulton Country Club. Marlyn cherished time spent with his friends, great grandchildren and playing golf.
Marlyn is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Cheryl (Tim Graves) Piercy of Clinton; one son, Randal (Sue) Faber of Rochelle, IL; four grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Birdsley, Sarah (Andrew) Whiting, Emily (Nathan) Shepard and Aaron (Stephanie) Piercy; seven great grandchildren, Braden, Madison, Brynlee, Austin, Brooklyn, Molly and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
