Obituary for Mark A. Clarkson
MARK A. CLARKSON, 67, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no funeral service; a memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Fulton Athletic Boosters.
Mark was born September 19, 1955, in Hanover, IL, to Mark W. and Ida H. (Kuhse) Clarkson. He was educated in the Hanover Grade Schools and was a 1973 graduate of Hanover High School. On August 30, 1980 he married Cynthia K. Buikema in Hanover. Mark was employed by Drives, Inc. in Fulton, and later he worked for Exelon Nuclear Power Plant in Cordova, IL. He was an avid sports fan and loved a good game of cards, especially Euchre. Mark enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his property. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia; two sons, Mark R. (Michelle) Clarkson of Marion, IA and Eric A. (Nicole) Clarkson of Fulton; three grandsons, Elijah Clarkson, Kane and Clayton Clarkson; three sisters, Janice Steele of Elizabeth, IL, Bonnie Olsen of Freeport, IL and Kathy (Carl) Winters of Scales Mound, IL; two brothers, William (Joyce) Clarkson of Thomson, IL, Wayne “Butch” (Ann) Clarkson of Hanover, IL; two sisters-in-law, Lori (Steve) Colschen of Clinton, IA and Lisa (Jeff) Witt of Fulton, IL; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Shirley Buikema, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Schultz and Sandy Harkness; two brothers, Donald and Norman Clarkson.
