MARILYN GOOCH, 85, of Albany, IL, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Indianola, IA.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Toni Lucas, pastor of Albany United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany. A memorial has been established.
Marilyn was born July 17, 1938 to David R. and Sylvia B. (Burns) Buikema in Albany. She was educated in the Albany grade schools and was a 1956 graduate of Fulton High School. On October 21, 1956 she married Gary L. Gooch in Albany. Together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Gary passed away on November 19, 2016. Her family was the center of her life, and she embraced her role as a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Albany United Methodist Church, and she would enjoy the great outdoors while camping. Marilyn always relished a good card game of Bridge. She was a dedicated grandmother, thoroughly loving the times she could spend watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children, Jill (Michael) Hesse of Albany and Jody (Kevin) VenHuizen of Indianola, Danny (Kimberly) Gooch and Darrell (Sue Olsen) Gooch, both of Albany; eleven grandchildren, David (Brianna) Hesse, Amy (Dustin) Nelson, Beth DeBroeck, Joshua VenHuizen, Adam (Lena) VenHuizen, Andrew VenHuizen, Matthew (Jamie) Gooch, Aaron Gooch, Baylee Gooch, Trista (Justin) Gregory and Hailey (fiancé Bryan Lennox) Gooch; seventeen great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aiden, Eli, Carter and Bentley, Kaiden and Lennox, Connor and Daxton, Amelia, Ian, Norah and Rilyn, Harrison, Hayden, Hudson and Hadley. She will also be missed by her sister, Wanda Naftzger of Layton, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; one son, Terry Gooch; a brother-in-law, Richard Naftzger.
