Obituary for Margaret E. Naftzger
MARGARET E. NAFTZGER, 96, of Albany, IL, died Friday, February 11, 2022 at Park Vista Retirement Living in Camanche, IA.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Albany United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Toni Lucas. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday February 18, 2022 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany. Memorials have been established for Albany United Methodist Church and The Victory Center, Clinton, IA.
Margaret was born February 26, 1925, in Whiteside County, IL, to Robert H. and Cathryn M. (Burns) Curry. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. On May 20, 1944 she married Harlan E. Naftzger in Huntington Park, CA. He died October 19, 1991. Margaret was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison, IL, for 32 years as the Executive Assistant to the plant manager. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and belonged to the church’s Friendly Circle. She had been a member of the GEM Club, Albany Book Club, and the Albany American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as treasurer. Margaret enjoyed cross-stitch embroidery, reading, playing cards and traveling. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, LaVonne (David) MacGrath of Albany, IL; one son, Dale (Francie) Naftzger of Lake Oswego, OR; four grandchildren, David (Noel) MacGrath, Toby (Karyn) MacGrath, Seth (Rebecca) MacGrath and Zachary (Cindy) MacGrath; fifteen grandchildren, Davey and Aiden, Sam, Emma and Lila, Logan, McKensie, Ainsley, and Avery, Paige, Ashlyn, Noah, Isabelle, Grady and Sam A; one sister-in-law, Barbara Curry of Grant Park, IL; one brother-in-law, Wesley Naftzger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harlan; one sister, Donna Rife; two brothers, Robert and Roland (Sue) Curry.
