Obituary for Margaret A. Sibley
MARGARET A. SIBLEY, 79, of Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, July 30, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL. There will be a memorial visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2nd at the funeral home.
Margaret was born June 1, 1939 in Erie, IL to LeRoy J. and Myrtle (Williar) Housenga. She was educated in the Erie grade schools and was a graduate of Erie High School. She married Earl Milton Barnhart on August 8, 1957 in Freeport, IL. He died January 15, 1962. She married Lucius “Luke” H. Sibley on November 21, 1962 in Erie. He died on December 31, 1991. Margaret was first employed as a telephone switch board operator in Erie. She worked at Tasty Mates and the LaBelle Lanes in Prophetstown. Margaret was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Erie United Methodist Church and a member of the S.A.S. Club in Prophetstown. In her younger years, Margaret was an avid roller skater. She enjoyed bowling and was the secretary for the Prophetstown Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed crocheting and reading and was an avid Cubs and Bears Fan. A memorial has been established by the family.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Bill Hartman) Fisk of Prophetstown; one son, Michael (Keely) Barnhart of Mesa AZ; one step daughter, LuRe (Chuck) Lalley of Lyndon, IL; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Fisk, Valarie Fisk, Eric Barnhart, Eran (Aubre) Barnhart, Evan (Adrianna) Barnhart, Emily (Aaron) Starnes, Allen (Lisa) Lalley, LuResha McGinnis; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one sister, Janet (Virgil) Milnes of Prophetstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Milton Barnhart, and second husband Luke Sibley; one son, in infancy; three sisters, Julie Housenga, Kay Dunkin and Mindy Halsey; one brother, Gary Housenga.
