Obituary for Margaret A. Margy Haines
MARGARET A. "MARGY" HAINES, 77, of 14580 Norrish Road, Morrison, IL, died January 17, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center " Illinois Campus, in Silvis, IL. Margy was born March 5, 1934, in Rochester, MN, to Fred S. and Alene (Trautwein) Haines, Jr. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1952 graduate of Morrison High School. She attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY. Margy began showing the American Quarter Horse in the early 1960"s. Her top halter and pleasure horses won many prestigious awards during her 25 years of showing. Her travels took her from western Nebraska to the east coast, Canada, and down to south Florida. She made three AQHA Champions and the much sought after Honor Roll in Pleasure Driving and Amateur Western Pleasure. In 1997 she was inducted into the Illinois Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Margy also owns bucking bulls, and for the last eight years she has partnered with PBR Bucking Bulls, located in Ardmore, OK. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, and also belonged to the Daughters of American Revolution. She was a member of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of directors. She was preceded in death by her parents.
