Luella was born May 11, 1921, in Garden Plain, IL, to Joe and Minnie (Jaarsma) Ottens. She was

educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools. She married Dennis J. Buis on July 14,

husband fed Hereford cattle and became lifelong friends with Deno and IvaBelle Piloni who raised

them on their ranch in Colorado. Luella and Dennis visited there many times over the years.

Luella was fortunate to live 60 years at her farm home and was a good neighbor and friend to

many.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra (David) Rockey of Rapid City, SD; two grandchildren, Rachel

(Andy) Staats of Longmont, CO and Steven Hartman of Denver, CO; one sister, Betty Matthews of

San Diego, CA; one brother, Harvey Ottens of Morrison, IL.
