Obituary for Lucille F. Olson
LUCILLE F. OLSON, 97, of the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, IA, formerly of the Sarah Harding Home in Clinton and also Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the Alverno. Lucille was born August 25, 1910, in Morrison, IL, to William and Emma (Dyson) Peterkin. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. She married Marshall B. Olson on September 26, 1931 in Galena, IL. He died May 26, 1960. Lucille and her husband farmed in the Morrison, Sterling and Rock Falls, IL areas until his sudden death. She then moved to Morrison, and worked for the Vend Omack Co. at the G.E. plant. She also worked at Rest Have Home in Morrison. She was a 50+ year member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. For years she made quilt blankets to be given to those in need through Lutheran World Relief. She did volunteer work for many years at the local senior center, Golden Meals. She was the last known surviving member of the NG (No Gossip) Club, a social gathering of ladies from the Union Grove area which she joined in the 1930"s. Lucille was known for her green thumb with plants, and she enjoyed needlework; quilting, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She loved her dogs and birds. Survivors include one daughter, Marjorie Olson of Clinton, IA; two sons, Robert (Lois) Olson of Moline, IL and William (Lois) Olson of Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren, David M. (Debra) Olson, Erik (Kristi) Olson, Deborah (Mrs. Mark) Miller, Randall (Lois) Olson, Curtis (Kristin) Olson, Brian Rosenthal and Amy (Mrs. Clint) Peery; eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; two sisters, Dorothy Cassens and Verna Mennenga.
