Obituary for Lorraine J. "Punky" Norman
LORRAINE J. “PUNKY” NORMAN, 94, of Asbury Court Living Facility in Des Plaines, IL; formerly of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Asbury Court.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dalmus Meeks, retired pastor. A private interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Memorials to the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer’s Association have been established.
Lorraine was born December 27, 1928 in Morrison, IL, to Jessie and Louise M. (Arians) Knox. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1946 graduate of Morrison High School. On October 1, 1947 she married David Norman, Jr. in Davenport, IA. He died September 11, 1986. For many years Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper. She retired in 2002 from Navigant International, a corporate travel agency in Chicago. Lorraine enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, cooking and shopping.
Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie L. Norman and Jodee K. Norman, both of Madison, WI, Holly (Steve) Haney of Hoffman Estates, IL and Julie Norman-Geerts of Fulton, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Haney, David Haney and Emily (Valentin) Cortes; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by many close friends from school, work and her time at Asbury.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Collins and Marian Schipper; a son-in-law, David Geerts.
