Obituary for Lois M. Drury
LOIS M. DRURY, 92, of 920 S. Chicago, Geneseo, IL, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo. Lois was born April 28, 1916 in Garden Plain Township, IL, to William B. and Mary E. (Ege) Drury. She received her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees from the University of Illinois and received a Masters of Education from Michigan State University. Lois started her teaching career at the Kingsbury and Stone Street schools of rural Whiteside County. She taught for one year at Gilman, IL and then taught science at Champaign Junior High School in Champaign, IL, until retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Woodland Park, CO, the church"s United Methodist Women, and Mission Committee. She was also active in the Pike"s Peak United Methodist Mission Partners. Lois was heavily involved in environmental organizations and activities in the Champaign, IL and Colorado Springs, CO areas. Survivors include a sister, Mary E. (Allen) Wilson of Erie, IL; a brother, Charles (Diana) Drury of Indio, CA; a sister-in-law, Louise Drury of Fulton, IL; thirteen nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Katie Hamrick of Geneseo, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathryn Drury in infancy; and a brother, Burton "Bud" Drury.
