Obituary for Lois A. Spangler
LOIS A. SPANGLER, 79, of 1300 " 7th Street in Fulton, IL died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Lois was born on September 25, 1930 in Fulton, IL to Burnie O. and Nellie (Shipma) Engelkens. She was educated in the Christian Schools in Fulton, IL. She married Leonard H. Spangler on December 7, 1949 in Garden Plain, IL at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Estella and Larry Dyson. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2005. Lois worked at the Melody Milk Bar in Fulton, IL for five years. She was employed by the Riverbend School District as a bus driver for 11 years; she loved her job and all of her students. Lois was a lifetime member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. She loved reading, her word puzzles and traveling. She enjoyed flowers and wildlife. Lois cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved her dogs Sweetie and Buster. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Roger) Schaver of South Milwaukee, WI; four sons, Mike Spangler of Morrison, IL, Mark Spangler of Fulton, IL, Brian Spangler of Morrison, IL and Scott Spangler of Fulton, IL; four grandchildren, Robert Spangler, Elizabeth Spangler, Jennifer (Cliff) Rodgers, and Kerri Spangler; three great grandchildren, Kelsey Crimmins, James Crimmins, and Landon Rodgers; one sister, Mrs. Estella Dyson of Lanark, IL; and one brother, Bernard Engelkens of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Nellie Port, Carrie Wiersema, and Elizabeth Rus; and three brothers, John B., Arthur and Edward Engelkens.
