Obituary for Lillian V. Parker
LILLIAN V. PARKER, 95, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, November 17, 2017, at Wesley Willows in Rockford.Lillian was born January 15, 1922, in Prophetstown, IL, to Alphonse and Hulda (Gustafson) Hvalgren. She was a 1940 graduate of Prophetstown High School and a 1941 graduate of the American Institute of Commerce. Lillian married Dwight W. Parker on November 4, 1945, in Moline, IL. She farmed along with her husband in the Prophetstown area for many years. Lillian was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and the churchs WELCA. She also served on the church council and various other committees. Lillian was a longtime volunteer at the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center and was a member of West Hume Club. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and quilting.Survivors include her husband, Dwight; four daughters, Nancy Oppedal of Hanover, PA; Pat (Kraig) Pierceson of Belvidere, IL; Mary Cipolle of Emmaus, PA; and Dawn (Tom) Finnicum of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Ryan) Hand, Megan Pierceson, Kate Cipolle, Parker Cipolle, Natalie (Grant) Cipolle Nunn, Olivia Cipolle, Kristin (Gerritt) Nobles, and Mark Finnicum; two great-grandchildren, Ella Hand and Grant Nunn IV; and one sister, Edith Wah of San Antonio, TX.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Greg Oppedal; three grandchildren, Erika and Damon Oppedal and Mark David Cipolle; and one sister, Anna Wheat.
