Obituary for Leroy G. Prins, Sr.
LEROY G. PRINS, SR., 86, of Broadview, IL, formerly of Thomson, IL, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Loyola University Hospital, Maywood, IL. Leroy was born December 25, 1927, in Thomson, IL, to Albert and Pherna Marjorie (Geerts) Prins. He attended Thomson, IL schools and graduated from Thomson High School. He later graduated from Central College in Pella, IA with his BA degree. Leroy married Joyce E. Flikkema on August 16, 1957, in Fulton, IL. She died April 29, 2014. Following college graduation, he joined the military for a short time. Leroy then found employment and taught Physical Education and Latin at the Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst, IL. He worked for and later owned Euwema Movers in Oak Park, IL. Euwema Movers was a long time agent for National Van Lines, Inc. in Broadview, IL. He was a member of the West Side Reformed Church in Cicero, IL. Leroy enjoyed watching sports on TV. Survivors include one daughter, Eileen (Cem) Brinkley of Morrison, IL; one son, Leroy G. Prins, Jr. of Broadview, IL; three grandchildren, Ethan, Cariss, and Aidan Brinckley; three sisters, Pearl Ven Huizen of Gowrie, IA; Carol (Janvrin) Faber of Fulton, IL; and Evelyn Prins of Clinton, IA; two brothers, Leslie (Ruth) Prins of Fulton, IL and Burton (Kathy) Prins of Thomson, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Merle (Dolores) Prins and Howard (Kathy) Prins.
