Obituary for Leroy F. Gossard
LEROY F. GOSSARD, 78, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, TX. LeRoy was born October 3, 1936, in Fulton, IL, to Robert U. and Georgia (Norman) Gossard. He was educated in the Fulton Christian School and was a 1954 graduate of Fulton High School. LeRoy married Mary Ann Heusinkveld on April 19, 1957, in Fulton, IL. He was employed as an insurance and real estate agent for the former Lockhart Enterprises in Fulton, IL, and then continued with Lockhart and Law Insurance Agency. Later he was employed by Core-Vens and Company in Clinton, IA, until retiring in 2004. He also was employed by the Riverbend School District as a school bus driver for 26 years. LeRoy was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton and the church choir. He was a current member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton and also a member of the Double II Antique Car Club. LeRoy enjoyed playing his guitar for nursing homes, churches, and at regular jam sessions while wintering in Texas. He also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; three daughters, Pam (Bob Sterbenz) Swanson of Clinton, IA; LeAnn (Chuck) Smith of Fulton, IL; Ellyn (Mark) Stuhlman of Camanche, IA; one son, Ron (Sarah) Gossard of Clinton, IA; five grandchildren, Curt (Theresa) Swanson, Jill (Chris) Underwood, Sarah (Matt) Plumley, Jennifer Smith, and Olivia Gossard; three great-grandchildren, Mariah Underwood, Kendra Underwood, and Makayla Plumley; two sisters, Patricia (Arlyn) Zuidema of Morrison, IL and Diana (Larry) Van Zuiden of Wisconsin Dells, WI; one brother, Richard (Sue) Gossard of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Elaine Gossard in infancy.
