Obituary for Leona L. Miller
LEONA L. MILLER, 97, of 622 Woodlawn Drive in Prophetstown, IL died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Leona was born on July 29, 1912 in Prophetstown, IL to Fred A. and Ellen E. (Wiederhold) Ackerman. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools. She married Chester H. Miller on October 10, 1942 in Morrison, IL. He preceded her in death in December of 1974. Leona was employed by Micro Gear in Prophetstown, IL for 15 years. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown, IL, the church"s Women"s Fellowship and A.A.R.P. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and working word puzzles. A memorial has been established to First Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include several nieces and one nephew and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Florence Rapp, Hazel Clary and Mildred Dean and three brothers, Orville Ackerman, Harley Ackerman and one in infancy.
