LEONA C. VELAZQUEZ, 75, of 16238 Ridgewood Drive, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at C.G.H. Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Leona was born February 17, 1932, in Coleta, IL, to Emil and Clara (Steinmeyer) Buhrow. She was a 1949 graduate of Sterling High School in Sterling, IL. She married Norman J. VanderLeest on October 1, 1949, in Sterling. He died June 11, 1967. She then married Rodolfo "Rudy" Velazquez on March 21, 1970 in Lyndon, IL. She had worked for General Electric in Morrison, IL. Survivors include her husband, Rudy; six daughters, Norma (Mrs. Gail) Young of Morrison, Debra (Mrs. Galen) Johnson of Morrison, Joanne (Mrs. Duiane) Dahler of Morrison, Bonny (Mrs. Dale) Kennedy of Fulton, IL, Virginia (Mrs. Steven) Wirsing of Sycamore, IL, and Julia (Mrs. Ryan) Decker of Morrison; two sons, Jerry (Cindy) VanderLeest of Morrison, IL and Thomas VanderLeest of Clinton, IA; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Ernest) Schultz of Sterling and Elsie (Mrs. Henry) Folker of Morrison; two brothers, Robert Buhrow and Eugene Buhrow, both of Sterling. She was preceded in death by her first husband.
