Obituary for Lavern Vern Larson
LAVERN "VERN" LARSON, 63, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home. Vern was born June 3, 1949, in Morrison, IL, to Irwin N. and Lois L. (Durward) Larson. Vern graduated from Morrison High School in 1967. He also graduated from Morrison Institute of Technology, and later from Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. He married Pamela Shaw in 1968, Susan Hummel in 1972, and then married Barbara Roberts in 2003, in Las Vegas, NV. He was in the U.S Army from 1969 " 1971, attaining a rank of E5,Sgt. and serving in Germany. After the service he worked for Northwestern Railroad and then with General Electric Co. as a draftsman for three years, both in Morrison. Later he worked for Sauk Valley Equipment of Rock Falls, IL. For the last 27 years Vern was employed for Stanley-National in Sterling, IL. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, and enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was an excellent craftsman and enjoyed woodworking. He built his log cabin home on the family farm. A memorial to the American Cancer Society " Colon Cancer Awareness has been established. Survivors include his wife Barb; two daughters, Candy (Anne) Larson of Marseilles, IL and Nikki (Tom) Jenkins of Clinton, IA; one son, Chad (Marissa) Larson of Chicago, IL; one step-daughter, Heather (Nick) Bramm of Morrison, IL; two grandchildren, Kade and Jace Jenkins; one sister, Peggy Larson of Spring City, TN; first wife, Pam Habben of Morrison, IL; second wife, Sue Larson of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Lois Larson.
