Obituary for Kenneth R. Merema
KENNETH R. MEREMA, 75, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Home, with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. There will be a visitation preceding the funeral from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that folks wear their Harley Davidson or casual attire to Ken’s services. Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Clinton Humane Society.
Ken was born November 11, 1945 in Morrison, IL, to Robert A. and Theresa L. (Schaver) Merema. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Denise Bailey on Jul 3, 1993 in Fulton. Ken was an independent truck driver, working for many trucking companies over the years, retiring in October of 2020. He was a member of the Clinton AmVets and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Ken was an avid Harley Davidson and four-wheeler lover, taking his Harley or four-wheeler for a ride anytime he could. He also enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and building bird houses for them.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; three daughters, Tammy (Gary) Bormann of Andover, IA, Stacy (Tom) Bohle of Clinton, IA and Tracey (Mike) Regenwether of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, Marissa and Keaton Bormann, Zachary Bohle, Lane Regenwether; two sisters, Patricia Dierks of Preston, IA and Roberta (Dan) Burdsall of Branson, MO; one brother, Stanley (Lois) Merema of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
