Obituary for Kenneth J. Tichler
KENNETH J. TICHLER, 89, of 304 E. Winfield Street, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison. Kenneth was born October 26, 1916, in Morrison, IL, to Clarence and Helen (Huizenga) Tichler. He was educated in the Delhi School of rural Whiteside County, IL. He married Eldora Douma on February 14, 1941 in Morrison. He engaged in farming for 31 years in the rural Morrison area. He then worked as a custodian for 10 years at Ebenezer Reformed Church, and also as a substitute rural mail carrier and later a fulltime rural mail carrier, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where he served as an elder and deacon, taught Sunday school and catechism. He led worship services at the county jail for inmates and also at local nursing homes. He was a member of the Morrison Kiwanis Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and Rollie Bollie. Survivors include his wife, Eldora; two daughters, Mary E. (Mrs. Bill) Meyer of Alto, MI; Charlotte (Mrs. Bill) Cox of Vail, AZ; one son, Richard (Kathleen) Tichler of Ft. Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Dr. Christopher (Colleen) Cox, Daniel Cox, Lisa (Mrs. John) Valdez, Marcia (Mrs. Bryan) McCree Ryan Tichler; seven great grandchildren, Sydney Cox, Samantha, Matthew and Nicholas Valdez, Camille Barclay, Brian McCree Jr. and Jacob Peel. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Donald Tichler.
