Obituary for Kenneth B. Tenboer
KENNETH B. TENBOER, 81, of Prairie Hills at Clinton, in Clinton, IA formerly of Morrison, IL died Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA. Ken was born January 4, 1931 in Sterling, IL to Henry and Tena (Vos) Tenboer. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Ken married Vivian M. Bokholdt on November 16, 1951 in Morrison, IL. He was first engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area during which time he sold DeKalb Seed Corn and was a school bus driver for R.C. Smith Transportation in Morrison. He then was employed as an agent of Rockford Mutual Insurance Company and later owned and operated Tenboer Real Estate and Insurance Agency. Ken also worked as an auction clerk for Jim Pell Auctioneering. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison where he served as elder and deacon. Ken was a 43 year member, director and two times Past President of the Morrison Lions Club. He was named a Melvin Jones Fellow Award winner, the highest recognition given to a Lions Club member. Ken was a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and attending his grandchildren"s sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Vivian; three daughters, Lynda (Roger) VanderVinne of Rochester, IN; Sandra Kallenbach of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; and Debra (Edwin) Bielema of Fulton, IL; one son, Robert (Daniele) Tenboer of Morrison, IL; ten grandchildren, Angela (Allen) Danko, Andrew VanderVinne, Katelyn Kallenbach, Nicholas (Angela) Bielema, Jennifer (Teddy) Benfit, Julie (Christopher) Cramer, Erica Bielema, Jason (Jody) Tenboer, Alicia (Michael) VanHorn, and Megan Tenboer; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Arnold) Tiesman of Fulton, IL and Barbara (Irvin) Prins of Morrison, IL; one sister-in-law, Ruth Tenboer of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Tenboer.
