Obituary for June I. Sikkema
JUNE ISABELLE SIKKEMA, 88, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. June was born June 2, 1925, in Fulton, IL, to Jacob and Maggie (Ottens) Hoogheem. She was educated at the former Lockhart School in rural Fulton. On April 4, 1945 she married Robert P. Sikkema in Fulton. June was employed at Climax Engines and Clinton Corn in Clinton, IA, then at General Electric Co. in Morrison, IL, finally at Burpee Seed Company in Clinton. She also farmed along with her husband, Bob, in Thomson, IL and the Cottonwood area. June was a charter member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, and was a current member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton where she was a member of the Rebecca Society. She loved to bake, garden and crochet, making many afghans. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Bob; one daughter, Susan Kay (Hans G.) Dransfeld of Huntington, WV; two sons, Bruce W. (Betty) Sikkema of Thomson, IL and Clark D. (Donna Duvall) Sikkema of Spraugeville, IA; nine grandchildren, Robert B. (Trisha) Sikkema, Bhrett (Marycat) Sikkema, Lisa Davis, Jonathan Sikkema, Tristan (Joni) Sikkema, Evan (Cassie) Sikkema, Thomas Dransfeld, Paul Dransfeld, Maggie Dransfeld; eleven great-grandchildren, Izabella James, Cody Davis, Kimberly and Falicia Sikkema, Moriha Heuer, Kempton and Kieran Sikkema, Kai and Oliver Sikkema, Adrian and Joslin Banowitz; one sister, Mrs. Irma Wiersema of Clinton, IA; one brother, Ken (Dixie) Hoogheem of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Maya Banowitz; one brother, Lyle Hoogheem.
