Obituary for Judith "Judi" Schaver

JUDITH “JUDI” SCHAVER, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at her home.


Her memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Ritzema, Associate Pastor of Outreach at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, and Rev. John Byker, retired pastor, co-officiating. A memorial visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton. Memorials have been established to Beacon of Hope Hospice and Unity Athletic Boosters.


Judi was born April 29, 1941, in Clinton, IA, to Joe and Gertrude (Venema) Huizenga. She was educated in the Albany grade school and was a graduate of Fulton High School. She then received her nursing degree from Moline Public Hospital. She married Harold P. Schaver on February 22, 1963, in Fulton. Judi was employed as a nurse at Morrison Community Hospital for 48 years, retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. She enjoyed being outdoors, particularly gardening and doing yard work. She also enjoyed baking, especially making cookies. She loved taking care of people and was incredibly gifted at it. Judi’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. In the last few years, Judi was cared for by her granddaughter, Lydia and also by her family.


Survivors include her husband, Harry; one daughter, Kristine (Kevin) Wiersema of Fulton, IL; one son, Philip (Laura) Schaver of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Clayton (Kendra) Wiersema, Cody (Ashley) Wiersema, Evan (Kelsey) Schaver, Nolan Schaver and Lydia Schaver; five great-grandchildren, Maddex Schaver, Oaklee Schaver, Nash Schaver, Ellie Temple and Vivian Meadows.


She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon “Butch” Huizenga.
