Obituary for Juanita Nita Bowen
JUANITA "NITA" BOWEN, 82, of 109 S. Church Street, Albany, IL, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, IA. Nita was born January 4, 1927, in California, to R.G. and Florence (Hinkle) Crawley. She was educated in the Selma, IA grade schools and attended Selma High School. She married Homer W. Bowen on June 25, 1944 in Ottumwa, IA. Nita drove a school bus for Albany Grade School for 23 years. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star Lodge #87 in Albany, where she was Worthy Matron in 1962. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. Nita loved spending time with her family and friends. A memorial to the Albany Food Pantry has been established. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Weidlein, of Duluth, MN; three sons, Gary (Marguerite) Bowen of Holland, MI, Randy (Marlene) Bowen of Hermantown, MN and Rick (Tammy) Bowen of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Scott) Wierda, Kristin Weidlein, Penny (Michael) Thompson, Amy (Michael) Halverson, Matthew (Andrea) Bowen, Leah Bowen, Brett Bowen, Bryce Bowen and Brady Bowen; five great grandchildren, Spencer, Gabrielle, and Hogan Wierda, Trey and Morgan Thompson; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Davis of Burlington, IA; a beloved Great Aunt, Helen Hinkle-Hoy, of Ottumwa, IA; special friends, Steve and Cindy Dyson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, one sister and three brothers.
