Obituary for Josephine Ann "JoAnn" Frederick
JOSEPHINE ANN “JOANN” FREDERICK, 85, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside, in Rockford, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Joey Garcea. A memorial visitation will be held before the service, starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
JoAnn was born on November 25, 1939, in Princeton, IL, to Edward V. and Fern (Sullians) Eshelman. She attended Tampico grade schools and was a graduate of Tampico High School. She continued her schooling at Sterling School of Beauty in Sterling, IL. On August 29, 1959 she married Larry T. Frederick at the Tampico United Methodist Church. JoAnn owned House of Beauty Salon in Prophetstown, and later she became a master crafter and changed her beauty salon into The Hearts Desire craft store. She was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church. JoAnn loved playing pickleball and enjoyed meeting with up with her friends every Tuesday supporting local businesses. She also traveled all over, trap shooting with her husband. JoAnn cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also loved doing crafts with her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Larry; three children, Terry (Dennis) Lewis of Camdenton, MO, Tom Frederick of Prophetstown, and Tammy (Dwayne) Zigler of Sterling, IL; five grandchildren, Ashleigh (Brandon) Huber, Rachel (Tim) Webb; Zachary, Joshua, and Colton (Kimberly) Zigler; nine great-grandchildren and one great-grandaughter on the way; one brother, Gerald Eshelman of Manlius, IL; her beloved Pup, Buddy.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jacob Lewis; a brother, Dale Eshelman.
